Kim Kardashian: Will anyone take her seriously?

It's been less than four months and Kim Kardashian is already splitting from her husband Kris Humphries. Not going to lie, I watched the special on E! and it was pretty fascinating to see how on of the most spoiled families in the United States can hold their egos for one night.
This family is pretty terrible. Not only do we know everything that goes on with their lives, but we also know why Kim loves her special stilettos with the red heel and why Rob always seems hungover, but actually isn't. It's past the point of no return, America has gotten so used to the crazy Kardashian antics that it doesn't even phase them anymore. I caught my dad saying, "She's getting divorced? That's not surprise," and continuing his game of chess.
Additionally, who's going to take Kim seriously anymore? If i were a company looking for a spokes person, i definitely would not choose her. She's unreliable, unloyal, and so obviously ungrateful, what's the point?
With all that said, why do I love watching Keeping up with the Kardashians? It's a guilty pleasure, it's not like i'm doing drugs on the side or anything, but it's pretty terrible! Ultimately though, reality television sucks us all in at one point, whether it be the Kardashians or the Housewives, there's an option for everyone. The important part is being able to admit this to yourself.

British Television Vs. American Television?

There's been so much debate on whether American t.v. is better than British t.v. The best example of this you can find is Skins, the British t.v. show that's caused much controversy here in the U.S. Many people say that Skins is a great show after seeing it on E4, the common t.v. channel in the U.K. Once taken from E4 and made into a less provocative show on MTV, many say the show was much better with the popular U.K actors such as Hannah Murray, Layla Lewis, Alex Arnold, and many others. The U.K. version of the show is a BAFTA award winning show about a group of teenagers living dysfunctional lives and facing problems that teenagers in reality normally face. I am a fan of the U.K. version of Skins, and other shows on E4, such as Misfits, which happens to be my favorite. After seeing these shows on E4, I've looked down on American television ever since!

Countdown to Thanksgiving!

This year, we have a whole week off for Thanksgiving. That means no stressing about tests, or homework (well, hopefully) and, best of all, SLEEP. I am so excited for this upcoming week off from school so I can just relax. School has been going good lately, but I think that we, the hard working students of West Broward deserve a break, because, gosh dangit, we need sleep!

After this week long break of good food and fun, I'm excpecting loads of work after we come back, because after all, mid terms are a-comin', much to our dismay. (At We Bro, we can only exempt 3 classes. What?!) I'm dreading when they start, since I'm so used to exempting all of them.

Anywho, I'm counting down to Thanksgiving. Because who doesn't love sleeping and eating, right?

Cars 2 Zooms in Blu

Cars 2, the Blu-ray disk, keeps all your favorite characters from Cars, while adding some great new ones. It shows the Cars in a more personified way than ever before. You can see them going shopping, eating at restaurants, and traveling all around the world. They even get to use technologies in the movie that only top agencies of the real world would have access to.

Cars from all over the world are introduced, each looking in ways that portray where they are from. Not just the cars, but even the new planes, trains, and ships made for the movie are showing their patriotism. Along with showing their true colors, Cars 2 lets the audience see the more elegant side of Cars. We finally leave Radiator Springs to party the nights away with the rich and famous cars.

Get ready to race through Japan, Italy, and France in the World Grand Prix with your favorite cars. Lightening McQueen is feeling the pressure from his new Italian rival, Francesco Bernoulli. While Mater returns, funnier than ever, and dealing with a case of mistaken identity that has him in his own race against his first real rivals.

The addition of espionage to the Cars world spices things up, giving Mater a bigger role in this second movie than in the first. It also adds mystery and introduces a love interest for Mater along the journey. The spy scenes remind you of a bunch of old spy movies of spies such as James Bond and Jason Bourne.

On top of all that, the movie incorporates and encourages Going Green in the story line. Definitely a great movie parents would want kids and even teens to watch.

The production team did a great job in animating the different countries, thinking of every detail to include making it seem as real as possible. From the big skyscrapers, to the paper lanterns and other decorations, even the music used in each scene changes according to which country they are in. They really captivated the essence of the people unique to each different country.

The bonus features included two short films around five minutes each: Hawaiian Vacation and Air Mater. Hawaiian vacation is based on the Toy Story 3, and how Ken and Barbie’s relationship is advancing. Air Mater, on the other hand, is just like one of the small segments from Disney Channel called Mater’s Tall Tales, in which Mater tells Lightening McQueen crazy stories about his past that no one can believe are true. And this time, Mater claims to have learned how to fly like a plane.

The director commentary is always a must have in all movies. It gives insightful information about movie production, the idea for the movie, and how it was made. It also talked about how Cars 2 is different and similar to Cars.

This movie took complete advantage of the amazing quality of Blu-ray. The picture quality is great, it feels like you are witnessing the events in person, not through a TV screen.

I highly recommend this movie. It is a great family movie, and even teens will get a kick out of the comedy and espionage.

Should Kids Sell Leftover Candy From Halloween?

Lately, kids have been using Halloween as a way to sell their candy to make a profit for themselves. Should this be allowed to happen? Is it right?
I personally feel that it's not right and kids should not sell leftover candy from halloween in school. For one, rules and regulations are already set among many schools either forbidding it or limiting the amount and kind. Perhaps like at McArthur High School where candy and other snack foods are only accepted to be sold if a member of a club or class. There are also specific times when each club or class is allowed to do so. This happens to be a convenient method for this school that way everyone can make a significant amount of money without having to compete with others.
Kids also should not sell leftover candy because it can be unsafe. Some kids can be allergic or have other health issues pertaining either to the candy or the ingredients inside that can cause a huge problem between both kids and even their families.
Also, what if parents limit their child from eating sweets, mainly candy? Should we agree with rebellious children? The only way to be sure and safe is to avoid the situation all together.

Last week the United Nations Population Fund announced the world population was projected to reach 7 billion people on Halloween.

This milestone is one that comes with mixed emotions. The success of our race is undoubtedly exceptional. However, the sharp increase in global population within the last decades is putting massive strain on our planet. Food production, fossil fuels... everything we depend on Earth for is being used faster than it's being replaced.

Attempting to consider what 7 billion actually means and looks like unfathomable. Especially if you're mindful of the fact that an estimated 9 billion people will makeup the world by 2045.

What does this mean for our generation? Within our lifetime, we are being witnesses to the fastest growth known to history; growth that goes beyond population numbers.

JUNIOR STRESS BOMB

Alright so I'm pretty sure the "Junior Year stress bomb" has officially exploded right in my face. I have projects, tests, outlines, soccer practice, club meetings, friend drama, family drama, and god forbid, a pimple?! When will things start settling down? Any seniors out there with an answer? Please tell me its not like this the whole year, I don't think I can make it. :(
