Puss in Boots is the spin off tale of the small but mighty cat whom we adored from the Shrek movies. Now, no ogre in sight, Puss (Antonio Banderas reprising his role) sets off on his own adventure- with the help of Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifanakis) and another fiesty feline, Kitty, played by Salma Hayek.
Set in far ago Spain, we first meet Puss running away from another one of his countless enemies- being an outlaw requires such. But when he finds himself in a bar with men telling tales of magic beans, and saying that they exist, opens up a whole new adventure for Puss, since he's been dreaming of finding them since his days as a kitten.
Filled with laughs and tons of fun, this movie put a smile on my face, without the help of a talking donkey.

Countdown to Thanksgiving!
This year, we have a whole week off for Thanksgiving. That means no stressing about tests, or homework (well, hopefully) and, best of all, SLEEP. I am so excited for this upcoming week off from school so I can just relax. School has been going good lately, but I think that we, the hard working students of West Broward deserve a break, because, gosh dangit, we need sleep!
After this week long break of good food and fun, I'm excpecting loads of work after we come back, because after all, mid terms are a-comin', much to our dismay. (At We Bro, we can only exempt 3 classes. What?!) I'm dreading when they start, since I'm so used to exempting all of them.
Anywho, I'm counting down to Thanksgiving. Because who doesn't love sleeping and eating, right?

90's Alternative Music
Is it just me, or is 90s Alternative the best? Lately, I've been really digging The Red Hot Chili Peppers, which have recently come out with a new album, I'm With You. I tried listening to their latest hit, The Adventures of Raindance Maggie, and honestly, I didn't like it as much as their older stuff.
Personally, my favorites are Under the Bridge, Scar Tissue, By the Way, Californication and Around the World. Another band I've started to listen to is Jane's Addiction, which has also come out with a new album, The Great Escape Artist. I really love I'll Hit You Back and Broken People, two tracks on their new album.
And then, there's the always classic, never-gonna-go-away Nirvana. Their underground, grunge sound dosen't always appeal to me, but I love Smells Like Teen Spirit and Heart Shaped Box. Sadly, they don't have a new album, since the lead singer Kurt Cobain has been dead for seventeen years now.
It might be just me, but I rather like all of these 90s bands making new material. It keeps things fresh, ya know?

Surviving High School: Homecoming Week
It's finally here- that week where you can come to school dressed like a banana, and no one would critisize you. Homecoming Week is definetly going to be one of my highlights of the year, because it's just non-stop fun.
At West Broward, our theme is "Let The Games Begin". Each grade was given a hallway to decorate wiht a certain theme (the freshman's: Harry Potter) and let me just say that they all look amazing. They were judged today, so I can't wait to find out the results.
Homecoming, in some ways, can be quite stressful. Especially this one, since report cards come out next week (ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh).
Anywho, Homecoming is a week of activities that is sure to be entertaining. (Tomorrow is Guess Who Day, where you have to dress like a celebrity).
All I have to say is, let the games begin.

How to Watch Movies in 2011

Cypress Bay High School
The art of the film has expanded from a short series of still images to major motion pictures. Along with this change came the transformation in how audiences watch movies.
Today, virtually any film ever created is available through a few clicks. Movies that once could only be watched in a theater can now be enjoyed from a variety of mobile devices or through physical renting. The choice is yours:
Blockbuster
Blockbuster popularized video/DVD renting and the idea of "borrowing" movies. The company, now in the process of declaring bankruptcy, pioneered the system of low rates and late fees for customers missing return deadlines. Stores around the nation are quickly closing, but those that have survived the financial problems continue to provide a fairly extensive selection of movies. The company recently expanded to include standalone kiosks and DVD-by-mail methods of renting with Blockbuster.
Redbox
For a $1 a night, Redbox provides recent releases through standalone kiosks located in grocery stores, convenience stores, pharmacies, restaurants, etc. With more red-colored machines showing up all through out the country, Redbox is proving itself to be a major competitor in the rental business due its convenience.
Netflix
Netflix took out one step from the classic renting process by allowing movie deliveries through the mail. The introduction of a catalog of movies and plans entirely on the Internet allowed customers to choose the exact movie renting experience they wished for in the comfort of their own home. They eliminated late fees and launched instant streaming capabilities, partnering up with companies like Playstation and Nintendo. Netflix users can stream movies from their gaming consoles or other entertainment devices. iPhone and iPad apps are also available.
iTunes/Vudu/On Demand
At varying prices, these services allow instant download of nearly any movie directly to your TV. Customers can choose visual/audio quality of download and with corresponding rates.
"Other" Methods
Illegal downloading...
Teenlink readers, how do you rent and watch your movies?
